Homegoing services were held recently for Franklin Words, Sr. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 210 W. Garfield Avenue in Milwaukee.
Franklin Words, Sr. was born on March 26, 1921 to the union of Benjamin and Ida Words in Atoka, Tennessee. Frank accepted Christ as his savior early in age.
Frank received his formal education in the Milwaukee Public School system and enlisted in the US Navy shortly after in 1942. Frank was honorably discharged at the end of World War II in 1945
He was employed by the city of Milwaukee Housing Authority for 35 years as a housing manager for the Hillside Projects.
Franklin Words, Sr. departed this life on Monday, May 28th, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Benjamin and Ida Mae-Words- Howard; brother, Robert E. Words, Sr.; sister, Rosetta Doss; and grandson Tony L. Dorsey.
He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Amy Words; sister, Florence Jefferson; children, Frances Anderson, Annisa (Khalid) Walid, Franklin (Rosa) Words, Jr., Bruce (Mary) Words, Sr., Jeanette (Ray) Gordon, Linda Gordon, Willie (Joanne) Gordon, Clay (Carolin) Gordon, Sharron Gordon, Glenn (Larisse) Gordon; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends far too numerous to mention.
Final arrangements were entrusted to: Serentity Funeral Home, 4217 W. Fond Du Lac Avenue in Milwaukee.
