Career Youth Development (CYD) held its annual event, “Toys for Children that Santa Forgot, but God Remembered” last week at the North Divisioin Campus.

Hundreds of children received toys, sponsors donated toys, and volunteers from Walgreens along with others passed them out to the children.

This event is done in remembrance of Jeannetta Robinson’s granddaughter Lil Netta who was discovered giving toys away to children attending her own birthday party.

When her grandmother Jeanetta asked her why she was giving toys away, she replied, “they told me that they didn’t receive anything for Christmas, and since I received toys for both Christmas and my birthday (12/27), I decided to give some of mine away to them.”

The very next year, CYD began holding the event, and Lil Netta at age 7 was one of the first donors.

And the event has been held every year on Dec. 27th since that time.
