Summer meals still available

August 13, 2011

Locations still serving summer meals for children through the end of August

As we enter the second week of August, children and families need to know that there are still summer meal sites open for business through the end of the month. Some meal sites have closed for the season, but visitors have options if the site they have been visiting all summer is no longer open. People looking for the meal site closest to them should dial 2-1-1, visit www.impactinc.org or be on the lookout for green “Free Summer Meals HERE” signs.

Thousands of children in Milwaukee, ages 18 and under, have received free meals this summer at area summer meal sites. No paperwork or proof of eligibility is required. Hunger Task Force executive director Sherrie Tussler said, “Just because the back-to-school supplies are lining the shelves doesn’t mean summer is officially over! We’ve still got three weeks of August left. Kids and parents need to find their closest, open meal site so they can enjoy the rest of their summer.”
