New Penzeys Spices store opens at Midtown Center

December 2, 2010

Just in time for the holiday season, Penzeys Spices has opened a new store in Midtown Center, at 4140 N. 56th Street. The store is a welcomed addition for the center, which has lost a number of retailers recently including the Lowes Home Improvement store and Applebee’s Restaurant.

Penzeys, which is a Wisconsin based company, has been opening new locations in recent months, and now Midtown Center will benefit from this expansion. For those not so familiar with the store, this will be an opportunity to discover how more than 250 varieties of spices and seasonings can add so much to your own home cooking experience.

With a slow economy, many families are choosing to stay home and cook rather than dine in a restaurant. These times also present an opportunity for people cooking for family and/or friends every day to express the amazing act of volunteering in your own home, for at its heart, that’s what cooking is. Uncertainty in the economy and the job market can be an opportunity to unite family through the kindness of cooks. Preparing and sharing a meal are selfless acts that strengthen bonds between generations, and help to give people hope.

As they do with all of their stores, the folks at Penzeys Midtown location want everyone to feel welcome. The stores try to help everyone to feel appreciated, happy and self-confident in their cooking for others, no matter where they might be on their own individual cooking pathway. The staff at Penzeys love hearing the stories of cooking, and know that if you can make a hamburger, you can make spaghetti. And if you can make spaghetti, suddenly you’re cooking for a group- -even if it’s just for two. And when you cook for a group, the good feelings that result just magnify and get passed on.

The move to Midtown is one that is respectful of the history of the company, with roots that go back to 33rd & Galena, but more importantly, it shows a belief in the future of the community – and the people who live in it. The reasons for opening a store in the Midtown Center are many; yes, the desire to be in the heart of its hometown is important, and Midtown is a tangible representation of the best of Milwaukee. The move also shows belief and participation in the revitalization and rebirth of this neighborhood that has seen challenging times. And let’s not forget home cooking is a healthier option to the fast food chain food as well.

Once you become a regular Penzeys customer, you will find that you will not have to pay a lot to get a lot. The store is featuring a special coupon to help customers get familiar with their new location, with a $5.00 purchase customers will receive a four-jar mini gift box of some of Penzeys most popular and best-loved spices. (See this week’s Courier for the ad).

The spices and the variety of bottle sizes make excellent additions to holiday gift baskets as well, where you can put together your own. Ask any regular Penzeys customer, you will enjoy getting ideas and cooking tips from store personnel – an experience that will help those who love to cook, cook to love.

Coupon expires 12/31/10
