Milwaukee, WI – Area residents came out in full force on Sunday, September 18th, as more than 3000 participants turned out to support the 22nd annual Walk To End Alzheimer’s at Henry Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee. The Walk, chaired by David Simbro of Northwestern Mutual and Thelma Sias of WEC Energy Group has already exceeded the $820,000 mark and will only increase over the next few months as donations continue to roll in. This year’s event broke all previous records in the 22 year history of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Milwaukee County, including a 13.10% increase in money raised over 2015.
“On behalf of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I would like to thank the people of Milwaukee County for doing an outstanding job raising funds that will help the Alzheimer’s Association fund research and provide care and support services to nearly 16,000 local people and families living with this disease,” said Tom Hlavacek, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association. “Everyone, including our dedicated Walk Chairs, our sponsors, our many walk teams and individual walkers, and our volunteers helped make this day a tremendous success.”
Donations can still be made to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and should be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter at 620 S. 76th Street, Suite 160, Milwaukee, WI 53214.
Please designate contributions to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Milwaukee County Walk. Donations can also be made online through November 30 at www.alz.org/sewi
