Giving Is So Easy Even a Mascot Can Do It

December 6, 2014

The Salvation Army Offers Convenient Ways to Help Local Families in Need

Wauwatosa, WI (December, 2014) As part of the national Giving Tuesday campaign, The Salvation Army’s mascots, Captain Red Kettle and Captain Food provided a lesson on how to make a donation to The Salvation Army using a smartphone.

Bus riders waiting at a bus shelter located at Wisconsin Avenue and Water Street, were encouraged to make the switch from a wallet to a phone, while the Salvation Army mascots demonstrated how ‘Connect’, Clear Channel Outdoor’s first global out-of-home mobile interactive advertising platform makes giving to the Red Kettle Campaign easy.

“This year’s Red Kettle Christmas Campaign goal in Milwaukee is $3.8M. It’s an ambitious goal needed to sustain year round programming for more than 80 critical programs and services.

We know Christmas is a busy time of year, and we want to make giving easy and convenient” said Major Dan Jennings, Salvation Army Divisional Commander for Wisconsin & Upper Michigan.

This new feature is a fantastic addition to our traditional donation options.

A donor can simply scan a smartphone while waiting at the bus stop.”

Donors can still make a donation to our Red Kettle Campaign by purchasing our Red Kettle Season Pass pin online at www.SAmilwaukee.org or by purchasing one at Metcalfe’s, or texting to sarmy to 71777.
