For over forty-five years, the Social Development Commission (SDC) has served as a planner, coordinator, and implementer of human service programs for low-income individuals and families in Milwaukee County. We currently have the following job openings:
Head Start Health/Nutrition Manager
To provide oversight in the areas of health and nutrition for all SDC Head Start. To ensure program compliance according to Federal Head Start performance standards as well as Child Care Regulations. The Health/ Nutrition Coordinator will focus on managing and maintaining the SDC Head Start health and nutrition program under the supervision of the Health/ Nutrition Manager.
Head Start Education Coordinator
Responsible for managing the day to day operations of assigned Head Start Campuses to ensure an integrated balance of services to meet Head Start performance standards, including involvement of parents and community members. Manage center activities, enrollment and center operational needs. Supervise staff. Oversees classroom and campus day to day operations observe and monitor classroom rigor, provide staff with feedback and strategies to improve assessments and achievement. Collaborate with teachers and advocates to provide parents with weekly letters about curricular coverage, health hints and community announcements. Will also work with internal auditing team to provide ongoing monitoring using observation tools to assist with optimal implementation of curriculum and assessment.
Head Start Educational Instruction and Evaluation Subject Matter Expert
Provide training and evaluation to SDC Head Start program in Milwaukee County. The position is responsible for ensuring that each site has the highest quality educational programming available. Provide training and technical assistance to each program. Assist in the development and implementation of countywide systems, plans, policies and procedures.
Head Start Teacher
Head Start teachers, help and assist children ages 3-5 develop social emotional, self-help and academic skills through loving and nurturing environment. They involve parents and guardians in the education process; bring children to the level they need to be before entering kindergarten. Organize classroom into different interest areas with age appropriate learning materials. Prepare lesson plan weekly with activities that reflect individual goals and supportive activities for regular and special need children. Have all materials ready before executing the activity. Screen and evaluate each child within required timeframe and make a referral if needed. Attend IEP meetings and annual reviews. Maintain education folder for each child and update as needed. Maintain daily attendance record on each child; maintain and update monthly education folder. The incumbent mentors new teacher when needed; assists and supervises assistant teacher, volunteers, student teacher.
Head Start Assistant Teacher
To assist in providing a comprehensive child developed program, ensure parent/guardian involvement in the education process, while maintaining a safe overall classroom environment for children ages 3-5 years of age.
