The Milwaukee Urban League will host its 27th Annual Black & White Ball this Saturday, June 16 from 5:30 p.m. to midnight at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, located at 1001 N. Fourth Street in Milwaukee. More than 900 guests are expected to attend the popular event, which raises money for the League’s education, employment, economic development and entrepreneurship programs and asks its guests to wear black and/or white formal attire to help the event live up to its name.

This year’s featured entertainment is female R&B vocal group, En Vogue. Assembled in 1989, En Vogue is listed by Billboard Magazine as the 18th most successful act of the 1990s and one of the most popular and successful female groups of all time. The group has won four Soul Train Awards, six American Music Awards, seven MTV Music Awards, more than any other female group in MTV history and has received seven Grammy nominations. En Vogue’s hit songs include Hold on; Lies; You Don’t Have to Worry; Don’t Let Go (Love) from the soundtrack to the movie, Set It Off; and Giving Him Something He Can Feel.

The Milwaukee Urban League thanks the sponsors that help to make the Black & White Ball a financial success. For the second year, a record number of 17 companies and community foundations have stepped up as major sponsors: American Family Insurance, BMO Harris Bank, Brewers Community Foundation, Coca Cola Refreshments USA, Forest County Potawatomi Community Foundation, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, JPMorgan Chase, ManpowerGroup, MillerCoors, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Northwestern Mutual Foundation, Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc., Time Warner Cable, UPS, U.S. Bank, We Energies and Wisconsin Energy Foundation. Additionally, GE Healthcare will have a significant presence at the Ball through its purchase of eleven corporate tables.

“We could not continue the important work of the League without this phenomenal support from our businesses, foundations and long-time friends.” said Milwaukee Urban League President and CEO Ralph Hollmon. “Their financial support for the Ball is an acknowledgement that they see the League’s work as an important investment in our community, particularly in these challenging economic times.”

This year’s Black & White Ball also includes a signature cocktail reception, silent auction and a post-ball reception. Since its inception, the event has generated more than $4 million for the Milwaukee Urban League.
