Psychologist /Sr. Psychologist
The University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee Norris Health Center, Department of Counseling and Consultation Services seeks an experienced Psychologist to provide assessment, short-term psychotherapy and crisis intervention. The 12-month position also involves consultation with Health Center and campus staff regarding mental health issues. Minimum requirements for the position include: doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D.) in clinical, educational, or counseling psychology, license to practice Psychology in the State of Wisconsin (or license-eligible and able to attain such licensure in Wisconsin within one year of hire), and a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral clinical experience. Qualified candidates will have previous experience conducting brief psychotherapy and work with clients from diverse backgrounds, college-aged individuals and clients with serious mental illness, as well as the skills necessary to supervise advanced practicum students. Candidates who demonstrate passion for working with the developmental issues of traditional college-aged students and who use a creative approach to dealing with these issues will be given preference. Experience working with LGBTQ issues and/or college counseling experience is highly desirable. A strong ability to collaborate with others and excellent communication skills are preferred. The UWM Norris Health Center serves a very diverse student population of almost 30,000 and seeks a psychologist sensitive to that diversity. The psychologist will be part of a multidisciplinary team within the Health Center. Anticipated starting date is approximately August 1, 2012. Starting salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience. Excellent fringe benefits, including vacation and sick leave.
