Youth show off creativity

April 8, 2011

Young people participating in programs at the Social Development Commission (SDC) will show off their artistic side. The youth will take part in an Art Show at the Walkers Point Center for the Arts on Friday, April 15.

The young artists will display a variety of different mediums including drawings, paintings, and sculptures. They are participants in different programs that make up SDC’s Youth and Family Development Program. The youth have been working with Rosemary Pearson, a professional art therapist who has been volunteering to work with to encourage the young people to express themselves through art.

The Youth Art Show is free and open to the public from 5 pm to 9 pm at the Walkers Point Center for the Arts at 839 S. 5th Street. It will be an opportunity to view the work and meet the young artists. The show is underwritten by the Social Development Foundation and the Capital Grille.

For more information, visit the SDC website at www.cr-sdc.org, click on the “News/Events” link and on the “Special Events” page.
