Historical African American Teachers (HAAT) celebrates pioneer teachers who taught in the Milwaukee Public School system

March 26, 2011

The Milwaukee Courier joined with the Historical African American Teachers (HAAT) with celebrating pioneer teachers who taught in the Milwaukee Public School system. For the past few months, HAAT Honorees were featured leading up to the organization’s March 26th Luncheon that will recognized additional teachers, local reowned artistic directors, artists, and those who have contributed to the community through other occupations and now are struggling with some life challenges. The luncheon takes place on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Serb Hall. The photo above is of some pioneer teachers and their family members who were celebrated at earlier luncheons by HAAT in 2010. From (l to r); Edwina Beanum, Ruby Young, Julianna Rhotan, Cherrye Trotman, Dr. Enid Trotman and Lura Anyanwu.
