For over forty-five years, the Social Development Commission (SDC) has served as a planner, coordinator, and implementer of human service programs for low-income individuals and families in Milwaukee County. We currently have the following job openings:
Emergency Assistance Specialist
The Emergency Assistance Specialist is responsible for meeting the immediate needs of eligible persons facing a current emergency, which must be due to fire, flood, natural disaster, energy crisis, homelessness or impending homelessness. Emergency assistance is intended to avoid destitution of a child and provide living arrangements for the child in the home. This position requires an Associate degree in human services related area and four years related experience and/or training that demonstrate the skills, knowledge and abilities needed to perform the above tasks. Previous experience working with a mental health or AODA service. Knowledge and experience of relevant software applications – spreadsheets, word processing, and database management. Ability to develop and maintain relationships in a multicultural environment. Several openings; one must be Spanish/English bi-lingual. Also Burmese/English and Iraqi/English.
Financial Employment Planner
The Financial Employment Planner is responsible for establishing and maintaining a case management and employment plan for participants to receive employment and training services. Coordinate efforts with other agencies to ensure timeliness of participant flow through out the established process while maintaining cultural sensitivities. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree, emphasis in human services, human resources or vocational counseling preferred. Two or more years of professional experience in case management. Knowledge of public assistance program policies and procedures. Ability to recognize risks indicators, such as AODA, domestic abuse, developmental disabilities, or suspected child abuse. Excellent communication skills, the ability to respond to questions from clients and sound interviewing techniques.
Quality Control and Data Coordinator
The Quality Control (QA), Data Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive quality control system for the W-2 program and will report agency progress on performance standards, producing quality assurance/ control reports, monitoring. Will develop and conduct training. The position requires a Bachelors Degree in Business, Economics, statistical research or related field and four years related experience. Strong communication and problem solving skills.
Client Registration Specialist
The Client registration Specialist is responsible for assisting staff and the Resource Specialist in determining appropriateness for services. Will be first point of contact for customers seeking available W-2 services and supportive services. Will coordinate with EAA staff to ensure all documentation has been entered into CARES. Ensure constant flow of information to staff and customers. Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent and two years related experience. Good analytical and communications skills required. Several openings; one must be Spanish/English bi-lingual.
