Radio station 1290 WMCS-AM and The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County will serve a “home style” meal to thousands on Christmas Day, Saturday, December 25, at the Frontier Airlines Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Avenue.
Doors will open at 11:00 am and dinner will be served until 2:30 pm. Christmas music will be provided by a combined chorus from All Saints Catholic Church, Milwaukee Public Schools Alumni Choir and the Repairers of the Breach Homeless Choir. A praise dance performance by “Royalty” will round out the entertainment for the day. Santa will make an appearance passing out donated gifts to children. Guests will receive complimentary gifts, while supplies last.
“1290 WMCS and our partner, The Salvation Army, along with our generous sponsors are so proud to be able to once again make the holiday season meaningful for so many in our community. The Christmas Family Feast is a day of fellowship and sharing. Families work together and eat together – it’s the true meaning of community in the spirit of the Season,” said Chandra Staples, 1290 WMCS-AM event coordinator.
Nine-hundred volunteers will work to make the Feast a success. Crews began unloading the thousands of pounds of food and supplies on Monday, December 20, and three, fourhour shifts per day beginning on December 23 will prepare the 8,000 meals that will be served on Christmas Day.
This year’s Christmas Family Feast menu will consist of roast turkey, baked ham, country stuffing, candied yams, sweet green peas, mashed potatoes, fresh baked dinner rolls, and an assortment of deserts and beverages.
