Attorney Jason Abraham, partner in the law firm of Hupy & Abraham, S.C. presented a $10,000 donation to the NAACP Scholarship Fund at the Milwaukee Branch NAACP Annual Freedom Fund Dinner held Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Milwaukee. This year’s dinner entitled “One Nation One Dream” was attended by hundreds of supporters and a host of notable dignitaries including U.S Congresswoman, Gwen Moore and Milwaukee Mayor, Thomas Barrett.
Hupy & Abraham, S.C. served as a host sponsor again this year. The law firm has been supporting the scholarship fund for more than a decade with annual contributions of $10,000. The funds are granted to local students to pursue higher education. Students are allowed to use the funds to attend the college or university of their choice.
This year’s recipients are JaCarrie M. Carr, Melissa M. Ferrill, Marlissa M. Gordon, Dezmond A. Howard, Meghan A. Isabell, Lovell Morris, Chi-Ri Patrick and Shantell F. Henderson. “Our law firm is committed to promoting education. We believe that education is key in achieving social and economic equality”, said Abraham. This contribution brings the law firm’s total educational scholarship donations to nearly $200,000. The firm’s contributions started years ago with the WMCS/1290 Scholarship Fund.
During the presentation, Attorney Abraham was surprised to learn that he had been named “Lawyer of the Year” by the NAACP. While on stage, he made a pledge to match all guest donations up to $1,000 to the NAACP Youth Council. “I am surprised, proud and honored to receive this award”, said Attorney Abraham.
