COMMUNITY DIRECTOR FOR THE YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION INITIATIVE (VPI)
The individual we seek is a dynamic leader attuned to the needs of youth in crisis and capable of promoting the VPI program to key community leaders in the targeted areas, drawing upon a strength-based model of neighborhood involvement. This is a highly visible position with the responsibility of informing the community of VPI goals and objectives, facilitating partnerships, leading staff members in community outreach and evaluating the development and implementation plans, as well as program effectiveness. We will rely on you to build a broad coalition that brings together vital constituents (other violence prevention advocates, government, business and community leaders) to work together to impact policies and practices. VPI program development, assisting with personnel hiring and supervision, fundraising and developing annual organization and program budgets will be among your other functions.
Our ideal candidate has at least 8-10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience n community-based program planning, outreach, training and evaluation. A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, public health, social behavioral sciences or a similar discipline is required (master’s preferred), as well as a proven track record of successful fundraising and community/academic partnership development. Results-driven and highly self-motivated, you must demonstrate excellent project management, team building, decision-making and problem-solving skills. Superior verbal/written communication and presentation capabilities are necessary, as well as Microsoft Office Suite and grants management software proficiency and the flexibility to work evenings and weekends as the need arises.
