Dear Friend,
Recently, I helped kick off the 10th annual Holiday drive to benefit benefit returning soldiers receiving care at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. Please join me in helping to make sure that all of our veterans and their families have the comforts of home they deserve this holiday season.
For nine years, Milwaukee businesses, government employees and residents have given generously to the Annual Holiday Drive. I am grateful to have the opportunity to show our appreciation and make a real difference in the lives of deserving veterans.
The goal is to collect items from the veterans’ wish list that will suit their needs at the VA Medical Center through a variety of health services. With your commitment, we can help the men and women who have served our country.
Donation bins will be set up inside the Courthouse, City Hall and other facilities across Milwaukee County from November 11th – December 16th. You can see a complete list of needed items and donation sites at http://milwaukee.gov/veteransdrive.
New this year is the addition of an Amazon Wish List comprised of items requested by Milwaukee area veterans that are available for purchase by those interested in donating. All items must be placed for delivery by Wednesday, December 14. To view the Amazon Wish List, please visit http://bit.ly/mkeamazonwishlist.
You can also make a financial contribution which allows us to purchase items that have not been donated at bit.ly/mkeholidaydrivedonate.
In addition to supporting the great work done at Milwaukee’s VA Medical Center, I hope you will join me in supporting the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative. I have issued a challenge to make sure veterans have a holiday like all of us take for granted; I will personally match up to $25,000 in donations made this holiday season. For more information or to make a donation, please visit http://www.mkehomelessvets.org/.
Milwaukeeans have made the annual holiday drive a success these past nine years, and I hope to have your support and enthusiasm again this year. If you have any questions on how to participate, please contact my office at (414) 278-4212 or countyexec@milwaukeecountywi.gov.
Sincerely,
Chris Abele
