Tour the Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., with the Friends. Free tours begin at 11 a.m. each Saturday afternoon in the rotunda. Tour goers receive a coupon for a free book at the end of the tour in the Bookseller Store and Café. To arrange for a special tour call (414) 286-TOUR.

Meet the Author: Alison Flowers
Meet author Alison Flowers at the Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave. on Monday, June 13, 6-7 p.m. in the Richard E. and Lucile Krug Rare Books Room, second floor. Through intimate portraits of four exonerated prisoners, journalist Alison Flowers explores what happens to innocent people when the state flings open the jailhouse door and tosses them back, empty-handed, into the unknown. Flowers is an award-winning investigative journalist who focuses on social justice and criminal justice. Co-sponsored by Boswell Books. A book signing will follow the event.

The Spotlight Exhibit Series will showcase rotating exhibits from the Milwaukee Public Library’s Rarities Collection at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Tuesday, June 14, 12-7 p.m. Stop in to view the reception room and enjoy a self-guided tour of prints, posters, illuminated manuscripts, and other treasures not normally on display to the public.

Bad Art Night: Create Something Truly Awful
Bring a friend to an alternative arts and crafts night where the objective is to make the worst portrait imaginable. Create a portrait of your friend or a celebrity using ridiculous materials at the Tippecanoe Branch, 3912 S. Howell Ave., Wednesday, June 15, 6-7:30 p.m. Prizes will be offered to the worst artists and judged by MPL’s art librarian Maria Cunningham.

Summer Used Book Sale
Used Book Sale featuring a large selection of used books, books on tape, magazines, comics, sheet music, children’s books and more at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Saturday, June 18, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friends members may enter sales 30 minutes before the general public with a current membership card. Please use the 8th Street entrance and present your card. All proceeds benefit the Milwaukee Public Library.
