Milwaukee Public Library Calendar of Events May 29 to June 4

Tour Historic Central Library
Tour the Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., with the Friends. Free tours begin at 11 a.m. each Saturday afternoon in the rotunda. Tour goers receive a coupon for a free book at the end of the tour in the Bookseller Store and Café. To arrange for a special tour call (414) 286-TOUR.

EVENTS

BYOD – Bring Your Own Device
Learn how to set up your iPad, Kindle, Nook or tablet to download free eBooks, audiobooks and magazines available to you as a Milwaukee Public Library card holder. Please bring your Milwaukee Public Library card and all passwords.

Lunch and Learn
Enjoy lunch on us and discover something new over your lunch hour that will assist in making you a great parent at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Wednesday, June 1, 12:15-1 p.m. We’ll provide Cousins Subs, chips and water. Doors open at noon. Lunch will be available starting at noon. Registration is required; call 414.286.3011. Seating is limited. Summer Reading for Adults. Play Book Bingo for a chance to win prizes. Leave with a list of great books to read this summer.

Active Adult: Working Out with Baby
Work out with your baby to strengthen your body while enhancing their brains at the Tippecanoe Branch, 3912 S. Howell Ave., Thursday, June 2, 10:30-11:30 a.m.  This class from B3 FIT is designed for parents/caregivers interested in working out while wearing their baby/toddler (weighing between 7-30lbs) in a carrier. No carrier? No worries! There will be carriers available for people to use during class on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please register by calling (414) 286-3011. Also June 9.

Color Your Way to Calm
Color your way to calm at a drop-in coloring club for adults at Zablocki Library, 3501 W. Oklahoma Ave.,
Thursday, June 2, 3-5:30 p.m. Coloring sheets, art supplies and hot tea will be provided.

A 20-minute story time for children and their parents or guardian is followed by open play time with a variety of age-appropriate, educational toys.

Chess Club at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Saturday, June 4, 1-2:30 p.m. Open play chess for all levels. One-on-one instruction on a first-come, first-served basis.

Saturday Afternoons at Central for ‘Tweens
Art Workshop at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Saturday, June 4, 2-3:30 p.m. A drop-in program designed for children in Grades K5-5. Participants will work on imaginative art activities relevant to a book or artistic theme for the day. Presented by A.W.E. – Artists Working in Education.

Preschool Story Time
Preschoolers are invited for fun stories, songs, and finger plays designed to help them develop important
literacy skills needed prior to learning how to read. Child care centers are welcome.
