Tour Historic Central Library
Tour the Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., with the Friends. Free tours begin at 11 a.m. each Saturday afternoon in the rotunda. Tour goers receive a coupon for a free book at the end of the tour in the Bookseller Store and Café. To arrange for a special tour call (414) 286-TOUR.

Green Home Series: Beepods
Bees are disappearing at an astonishing rate. Join Beepods to learn why and find out what you can do to help them at the Tippecanoe Branch, 3912 S. Howell Ave., Monday, May 23, 4:30-6 p.m.

Pencil Portrait Drawing
Join this portrait drawing class for ‘tweens, teens and adults presented by staff at Mill Road Library, 6431 N. 76th St., Tuesday, May 24, 5:30-7 p.m. Use pencils to create your own artistic portrait. All supplies will be provided Artists of all skill levels are welcome.

Book to Art Club
Engage with popular literature in a hands-on, imaginative way! Read a selected novel then work on an art project inspired by the story at the East Branch, 2320 N. Cramer St., Tuesday, May 24, 6-7 p.m. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Please register online or by calling Ready Reference at 286-3011. Registration will open the day of the previous month’s program.

BYOD – Bring Your Own Device
Learn how to set up your iPad, Kindle, Nook or tablet to download free eBooks, audiobooks and magazines available to you as a Milwaukee Public Library card holder. Please bring your Milwaukee Public Library card and all passwords.

Patent Searching 101
Central Library business librarians will explain the seven-step strategy for conducting a patent search at Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Thursday, May 26, noon-1:30 p.m. This program is free and offered monthly. While librarians cannot do a patent search for you, these monthly programs will demonstrate how to get started by following the USPTO guidelines.

Pajama Story Time
Families with young children are invited to have fun sharing stories, songs and rhymes designed to develop early literacy skills and encourage a love of reading. Come dressed in your coziest PJs and bring a stuffed animal friend at the East Branch, 2320 N. Cramer St., Monday, May 23, 6:30-7 p.m.

Playgroup With Stories
A 20-minute story time for children and their parents or guardian is followed by open play time with a variety of age-appropriate, educational toys.

Make your own community with LEGOs at the Forest Home Branch, 1432 W. Forest Home Ave., Wednesday, May 25, 6-7 p.m.  See how much more you can build with some practice.

Art Workshop
A drop-in program designed for children in Grades K5-5. Participants will work on imaginative art activities relevant to a book or artistic theme for the day. Presented by A.W.E. – Artists Working in Education at Tippecanoe Branch, 3912 S. Howell Ave., Tuesday, May 24, 6-7:30 p.m.

Preschool Story Time
Preschoolers are invited for fun stories, songs, and finger plays designed to help them develop important
literacy skills needed prior to learning how to read. Child care centers are welcome.
