Women’s History Month / International Women’s Day / Gender Parity

March 12, 2016

It’s fitting that Women’s History month and the celebration of International Women’s Day happen during March – the only month that is also an action word – time marches on, march forth, march forward. Women have marched for centuries for social change and continue to do so. This year, the focus is GENDER PARITY. We all need to be involved and the Women’s Fund is offering a few things you can do as we march towards parity for all:

  • Join the movement by taking the Pledge For Parity.
  • Check out the video from our recent Gender Equality seminar Challenging the Status Quo and feel free to share with your networks.
  • Save the Date: April 19th at 5:00PM Next Gender Equity Seminar: The Need for Mentors and Sponsors – How to Level the Playing Field

Make a donation in support of the social change work we do at the Women’s Fund. Your philanthropy keeps us going. Make your online donation on our web site.

Think About This

It’s an election year. It is crucial that women be engaged in the political process. One of our grantees is all about educating and organizing women in our community to fight for social justice.
Voces de la Frontera:   With our funding they were able to offer a women’s leadership program Mujeres Lideres. The one hundred women graduating from the program have become community leaders who are organizing women to fight for: changing immigration laws, removing voting rights restrictions, and initiate programs providing access to ID’s. Through a very effective Get Out The Vote campaign, the women in Mujeres Lideres increased by more than fifty per cent the number of women who are registered to vote.
