Open letter to parents – Welcome Back!

September 14, 2013

From Backpacks to Briefcases

President/CEO of Greater Milwaukee Girls & Boys Clubs

Vincent Lyles

By the time this article is read, most students in primary and secondary grades will have completed at least one full week of school.

Back-to-school time always brings lots of excitement. After a long summer, students want to see their friends, they’re anxious to enter the next grade, and they look forward to being part of new adventures inside and outside the classroom.

While a lot of the back-to-school focus is on getting our students ready, from buying school supplies to completing health exams, I want to share a message with all the parents and guardians.

You are a key part of a child’s classroom success and this is an exciting time of year for you too!

The following is a letter I recently sent to parents of our Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee members. Our 38 locations are excited to welcome back the more than 4,600 children and teens who will visit us on average each day.

Dear Parents and Guardians:

On behalf of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, we want to wish you and your child an awesome school year! It’s always a great to meet parents and other caregivers of our Club members.

They often tell me how good they feel about their child being part of the Boys & Girls Clubs. Parents and guardians appreciate all we do for their son or daughter, from helping with homework to serving healthy meals after school.

Thank you so much for trusting us with your loved one. It truly takes a village to raise a child and your child is very important to us. Boys & Girls Clubs are made for them to feel safe and secure while learning and growing.

From our family to yours, have a great school year!

Sincerely,
Vincent Lyles
President & CEO Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee
