BloodCenter of Wisconsin to host 13th Annual Milwaukee Bucks Blood Drive

March 23, 2013

Help patients like Santos, age 7

BloodCenter of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bucks are teaming up to save lives with the 13th Annual Milwaukee Bucks Blood Drive on Monday, March 25. The community blood drive will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, 1001 N. 4th St., Milwaukee. Donors may visit www.bcw.edu/bucks to schedule an appointment.

In gratitude to blood donors who are helping to save lives, the Milwaukee Bucks will give two vouchers for a future Bucks game to all attempting donors. The vouchers can be used for one of two games:

• Monday, April 1, against the Charlotte Bobcats

• Wednesday, April 3, versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Both games begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. Attempting donors will also receive a limited-edition t-shirt. In addition:

• Free parking will be available in the structure at 4th St. and Highland Ave.

• Complimentary childcare will also be provided.

• Members of the Energee Dance Team will be performing throughout the day and Bucks mascot Bango will be on hand.

Help patients like Santos

By donating blood through BloodCenter of Wisconsin, you are helping to enhance and save the lives of patients in our community – patients like Santos of West Bend. He was born at 26 weeks and weighed just one pound.

Santos received blood to keep him alive so he could develop and grow. Today Santos is an active 7-year-old with a black belt in taekwondo.

His mom, Tamie, says, “Santos is thriving, but he would not be here today without life-saving gifts from blood donors.”

Donations of all blood types are needed, but there is an especially great need for O negative and platelet donors.

Anyone 17 or older who is in general good health and meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to donate blood. Parental consent is required for 16-year-olds to donate.

The entire process takes about an hour. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes birth date.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 1-877-BE-A-HERO or visit www.bcw.edu/bucks.
