Roundy’s Foundation donates more than $38,000 in food and cash to six Milwaukee food pantries

May 11, 2012

(L – R) Nathaniel Harrison and Minister Aaron Blackhorn unload a pallet of food donated to Greater Philadelphia Church of God by the Roundy’s Foundation. The delivery happened during the foundation’s Focused on Feeding Families Tour, during which more than $257,000 in food and money was donated to 60 food pantries in five days. Six Milwaukee area pantries received the donations.

The five-day, 14-city, bi-annual ‘Roundy’s Foundation Focused on Feeding Families Tour’ stopped in Milwaukee on Friday, April 27 to make donations to six local food pantries. During the tour April 23 – 27, the Roundy’s Foundation donated more than $257,000 in food and money to 60 food pantries throughout Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin. Each pantry received a donation of food and money valued at more than $6,300.

In conjunction with the Focused on Feeding Families Tour, Roundy’s Foundation is hosting the Recipe Face-Off Facebook Competition, in which fans of the Roundy’s Foundation Facebook page (facebook.com/Roundys-Foundation) had until April 30 to submit a recipe in hopes of winning a food donation for their favorite food pantry. A panel of judges is now deliberating over the recipes that were submitted and will determine the top three recipe submissions to move on to the final voting round. Facebook fans will make the final decision by going to the Roundy’s Foundation Facebook page from May 7 – 14 and “Liking” their favorite recipe. The Roundy’s Foundation will make a food donation to the food pantry chosen by the winner. See the Roundy’s Foundation Facebook page for complete rules and details.
