State Representative Elizabeth Coggs officially announced that she is running for Sixth Senate District Seat for the State of Wisconsin. The official kick-off for the campaign was held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the Dr. Martin L. King Jr Statue located on the eastside of the 1700 Block of Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Drive.

State Representative Elizabeth Coggs has proudly represented the people of the 10th Assembly District since January 2012 and the people of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors 10th District, from April 1988 to December 2011. Collectively she has served for twenty five years as a beacon of social change, community justice and as a leader advocating for a better quality of life for community residents.

Representative Elizabeth Coggs says “I have been steadfast in showing leadership by being a dedicated voice of the people; showing empathy; being a listener to people’s concerns and issues. Also by using positive community building skills; honesty; providing technical assistance and being flexible to work for the greater good of the community. I am humbled by the confidence the voters have placed in me and truly honored to have had the support of the community during my 25 years of service to Milwaukee.”

State Representative Elizabeth Coggs says if elected to 6th District State Senator, I pledge to fight with the same tenacity and advocacy as you and I work together to secure the rights and benefits of working families and to protect the social, economic and human rights of those families facing economic and health related struggles. We must work together to make sure that the State of Wisconsin is a champion of and not an enemy of worker’s rights and human rights.

I am determined to continue making a difference for the greater good. Frederick Douglas said “without struggle there is no progress”. Progress is something we have to continue to fight for. Representative Elizabeth Coggs says, “today I am working hard to earn your support and your vote for the Wisconsin State Senate; if elected I will continue the leadership tradition of Senator Spencer Coggs by being a full-time Senator. I stand on the hard work and leadership efforts I have provided as both as a State Representative of Wisconsin and a Milwaukee County Board Supervisor

“I thank the good citizens of the Milwaukee Community and the State of Wisconsin for allowing me to be a public servant, a voice for the people and an advocate fighting to put the power of government back into the hands of the people.”
