Director for Major and Planned Giving (Director) Position # 00812341
The Director is part of the senior management team and reports to the Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations. This position has two primary responsibilities: (1) to manage, supervise, train, and support fundraising staff to reach assigned goals (70% of responsibilities); and (2) to manage a portfolio of 50-75 highly rated prospects and donors (30% of responsibilities).
The Director is also responsible for:
- meeting fundraising goals for several colleges and academic units;
- managing fundraising staff for peak strengths-focused performance and out comes within their assigned schools and units;
- continuing to grow a culture of fund raising throughout the schools, colleges and academic units;
- participating and supporting Division efforts to improve fundraising success; and
- completing other duties as assigned.
The Director is expected to be a successful senior manager with major gift and campaign experience, a strategic thinker, and a team player; able to manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities and create an environment for success.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Ten years fundraising experience
Five years staff management
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in all areas of fundraising including direct mail, annual fund, proposal preparation, corporate and foundation relations, major gifts, principal gifts, planned gifts, and campaign
Experience with donor data base systems
Superior oral, written, and quantitative skills
Master’s Degree
Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE)
