Milwaukee leaders support Johnny Thomas for City Comptroller

County Supervisor Johnny Thomas, candidate for Milwaukee City Comptroller, announced today the support of Milwaukee leaders, including Congresswoman Gwen Moore, Mayor Tom Barrett, County Executive Chris Abele and a number of other elected officials at all levels.

“I am pleased to lend my support to Johnny Thomas for Milwaukee City Comptroller,” said Congresswoman Gwen Moore. “Thomas’ strong financial background and experience as a County Supervisor, with leadership roles on the County’s Finance and Audit Committee, will help steer our city on the right financial path.”

Previously, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett recognized Johnny Thomas as the right fit for the Comptroller position. “The citizens of Milwaukee need a Comptroller they can trust to ensure our finance system is stable and secure. Johnny has the right mix of public and private sector experience, and the broad vision necessary to be an excellent Comptroller for Milwaukee,” said Mayor Tom Barrett.

Elected officials supporting Johnny Thomas include: Mayor Tom Barrett, County Executive Chris Abele, Congresswoman Gwen Moore, Milwaukee County Treasurer Daniel Diliberti County Board Chair Lee Holloway, County Board Supervisors: Eyon Biddle, Sr., Gerry Broderick, Marina Dimitrijevic, Jason Haas, Nikiya Harris, Willie Johnson, Michael Mayo, Peggy Romo-West, Joe Sanfelippo, James “Luigi” Schmitt, and John Weishan. Common Council President Willie Hines, along with the following Alderman: James Bohl Jr., Joe Davis Sr., Ashanti Hamilton, Nik Kovac, Willie Wade, Tony Zielinski and Alderwoman Milele Coggs. Milwaukee School Board Directors; Mark Sain, Meagan Holman and Jeff Spence. State Senator Lena Taylor,. State Representatives: Elizabeth Coggs, Jason Fields, Tamara Grigsby, Jon Richards, and JoCasta Zamarripa. Hon. Carl Ashley, Milwaukee County Circuit Court, Hon. Jane Carroll, Milwaukee County Circuit Court, Hon. Pedro Colón, Milwaukee County Circuit Court, Hon. Rebecca Dallet, Milwaukee County Circuit Court , Hon. Valarie Hill, Milwaukee Municipal Court and Hon. Derek Mosley, Milwaukee Municipal Court .

Thomas currently serves on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors and is the Chair of the County Finance and Audit Committee. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from UW-Milwaukee and a master’s of Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University. Thomas also served for two years as a member of the Wisconsin Counties Association Taxation and Finance Steering Committee, including one year as vice-chair. Johnny and Yolanda Thomas are lifelong residents of Milwaukee County and attend Christ the King Baptist Church. They have two school-aged sons.
