Palermo’s, in partnership with the Hunger Task Force, will assemble and deliver 1,000 meals for Milwaukee families as part of the company’s fourth annual Easter Baskets for the Hungry program on April 20. The Easter baskets will be delivered to local families who would not otherwise be able to enjoy a traditional holiday meal this season.

Each Easter basket contains approximately 40 pounds of food, enough to provide a family with an entire week’s worth of food. The meals come at a needed time for many families who have children out of school for the week of spring break. Each basket includes holiday favorites such as ham, jellybeans and all of the ingredients for a green bean casserole. Since the program’s inception in 2008, approximately 100,000 pounds of food have been provided to Milwaukee families.

“Sharing a good meal together – particularly during the holidays – is so important and we’re thankful that we can help make this possible for local families this Easter season,” said Giacomo Fallucca, president and CEO, Palermo’s Pizza. “The Easter Baskets program has become our own family tradition, and we extend a special thank you to all of our community partners for their support.”

Palermo’s partnership with the Hunger Task Force extends year-round, underscoring the company’s commitment to providing meals for the Milwaukee community, where one in four citizens and one in three children live in poverty.

Hunger Task Force is an antihunger organization, which believes that every person has a right to adequate food, obtained with dignity. Hunger Task Force works to prevent hunger and malnutrition by providing food to people in need today and by promoting social policies to achieve food security tomorrow.
