Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) and MillerCoors are teaming up to extend the Miller Lite Free Rides™ Program to celebrate Earth Day. The program provides free bus rides on all routes, all morning long until 9 a.m. on Thurs., April 21. To encourage people to try transit and extend the offer to as many people as possible, the free rides are being offered the day before Earth Day.
“We’re excited to continue our strong partnership with MCTS and for the first time celebrate Earth Day with Miller Lite Free Rides in Milwaukee,” said Lisa Quezada, sustainable development policy manager for MillerCoors. “Environmental sustainability is a priority for MillerCoors; by providing Free Rides on April 21 we hope to encourage our community to join us in efforts to reduce carbon emissions and better the environment.”
The Miller Lite Free Rides program has a 24 year history in Milwaukee and has become a tradition for many on New Year’s Eve and St. Patrick’s Day.
“Many people in Milwaukee are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint,” stated Jacqueline Janz, MCTS marketing director. “Giving up your car for even one day is a productive way to reduce emissions and assist our community. I’m pleased MillerCoors is sponsoring this program to offer an easy and fun way for many to be greener.”
A person can make the biggest reduction of their household carbon footprintby switching to public transit – about 4,800 pounds per year.
