Men of Tomorrow (MOT), a 501c(3) organization targeted to minority males ages 9-18 is celebrating 20 years of serving the Milwaukee community. The organization is hosting a 20-year Anniversary Celebration/Fundraiser, January 7, 2011, at The Milwaukee Theatre. The event will feature national-recording gospel artist Marvin Sapp. Ticket prices range from $30-$50 went on sale Monday, November 22. People can purchase tickets at the Milwaukee Theatre box office, Ticketmaster.com, over the phone via Ticketmaster at 1.800.745.3000, or at any Ticketmaster outlet.

“Men of Tomorrow is happy to celebrate 20 years of successfully transitioning young minority males into productive adults who positively contribute to our communities,” said William Jenkins, president of MOT. “Our young men are faced with educational, financial, social and spiritual challenges. The school system, churches, and other community organizations all have a tremendous challenge. Men of Tomorrow is a working partner that provides young men with unique educational experiences and activities.

MOT Founder Cassandra Jenkins had a vision for the organization and its programming that was crystallized in 1989. The organization administers sessions and workshops for young male participants that focus on topics such as academic enrichment, community service, brotherhood, self-reliance, decision making, leadership and career development. The men and women who teach the program are community leaders, parents, guardians and former members of MOT. “The involvement of positive role models and former members as mentors and teachers is an important component of the program,” said William Jenkins.

MOT is deeply rooted in the church and holds its monthly sessions and workshops at St. Mark AME Church in Milwaukee. The collaboration with well-respected pastor and singer Marvin Sapp for the 20-Year Anniversary Celebration/ Fundraiser is reflective of MOT’s beginnings and objectives. Sapp has written and composed songs at the top of the Billboard charts such “Never Would Have Made It” and “You Saw the Best in Me.”
