Thousands of items were donated that will help area programs assist families with young infants.
The Community Baby Shower is organized by Today’s TMJ4 (WTMJ TV) and urges people to donate items for newborns and infants at Sentry Food Stores throughout the area. On Friday January 15, the Community Baby Shower collected thousands of items like diapers, infant formula, clothing and bedding for families served by a number of programs who work with families who have very young children. Those programs include La Causa Family Resource Center, Healthcare for the Homeless, the New Horizon Center, the Gerald Ignace Indian Health Center, Christ Child Society, the SDC Family Support Center, and the Pregnancy Support Center.
Many volunteers helped make the Community Baby Shower a success including those from the above organizations in addition to Veterans United for Community Service, the Orthodox Christian Women’s Association, Congregation Sinai, the Nativity Jesuit Middle School and Boy Scout Troops from Brown Deer and Whitefish Bay.
