The respite care program, located within The Salvation Army Emergency Lodge, 1730 N. 7th St., provides shelter for up to 20 medically needy homeless individuals to stabilize their health problems. The program is available to single men and women, who are self care, have an acute medical condition and need 24 hour shelter.
The mission of the program is to provide a safe place for patients to rest and recuperate while working to resolve their homelessness. Each resident works individually with a nurse and case manager to develop a case plan to improve their medical condition and resolve their homelessness. Services include: 24 hours shelter, a semi-private room and bathroom, 3 nutritious meals a day, free on site laundry facilities, transportation assistance for appointments and therapy.
Admission criteria; clients must be ambulatory and selfcare with respect to feeding dressing, toileting and showering. Patients must also be free of alcohol and street drug use. For more information contact Paul Uruske 414-265- 6360
