Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee announced that Vincent Lyles, current president of M&I Community Development Corp. (CDC), has been named president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee effective January 2, 2012.
The announcement comes after an extensive four month national search. Lyles will replace Jim Clark , who in June was named the president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) effective January 2, 2012. Clark will continue in the role of president and CEO of the Milwaukee Clubs and work with Lyles until the end of 2011 to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
Lyles has been on the forefront of revitalizing some of the poorest neighborhoods and areas most in need in Milwaukee and across the nation. In his current role as the president of M&I Community Development Corp. (CDC), Vincent Lyles grew M&I CDC’s investment portfolio from $53 million to approximately $130 million. Prior to joining M&I, Lyles was a director at Robert W. Baird & Co. where he provided financial advice to Wisconsin municipalities, school districts and special taxing units.
Lyles’ efforts at M&I CDC have positively impacted the lives of a cross-section of people, but his impact in the Milwaukee community doesn’t stop there. In addition to serving as board chair for Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin, Lyles serves as a board member of the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts and Milwaukee Montessori School. He also serves as a corporate board member of Delta Dental of Wisconsin; Encore Development Group; Generation Growth Capital; Wisconsin Housing Preservation Corporation, and as a member of the Greater Milwaukee Committee.
“Vincent’s proven track record of serving those most in need in our community and his solid reputation in both the business and government communities thoroughly impressed our search committee,” said David Radtke, board chairman of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and co-chair of the search committee. “We believe Vincent is the right person to provide leadership and continue the Milwaukee Club’s mission in our community.”
“Vincent has been an outstanding part of the M&I team in his capacity as president of the M&I Community Development Corporation. He’s taken a leadership position in helping to resolve many of the city’s issues such as poverty,” stated James Wigdale, chairman emeritus of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation. “With this announcement, it’s a win-win for Vincent, the community and especially the Boys & Girls Clubs. He’s following major footsteps made by Jim Clark. I know Vincent will lead the Boys & Girls Clubs’ forward.”
“It is an honor to have been selected to lead Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. I have tremendous respect for the longstanding commitment of the organization to the young people it serves,” said Lyles. “I have enjoyed what I have been able to do at M&I Community Development Corp., but I am looking forward to giving young people in this community the opportunity to achieve great futures.”
Lyles was born and raised in Milwaukee and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Madison Law School.
“Vincent’s commitment to and his understanding of this community will be great assets to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee,” stated Jim Clark. “With Vincent’s leadership, the organization will continue to remain vibrant and strong and on a course for continued impact and growth for the kids who need us most.”
