Wauwatosa, WI (May 21, 2014) The Salvation Army will participate in the 149th Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26th, 2014.
Salvation Army volunteers provided assistance to American soldiers in France starting in 1917 during World War I.
“Donut lassies,” female Salvation Army volunteers provided writing supplies, stamps, clothes, home cooked meals and donuts to soldiers on the front lines.
This year’s annual parade begins at 2:00 p.m. and will honor Vietnam veterans.
The parade will feature color guards, marching units, bands, military vehicles and motorcycles.
The parade starts at 4th Street and Wisconsin Avenue, proceeding east on Wisconsin Avenue to the War Memorial Center and ending at Veterans Park on the lakefront.
