In appreciation for a donation of scarves that will be worn by the women of the chorus for the first time at their Dec. 11 and 12 Christmas concerts, The Milwaukee Choristers have announced their support of a coat drive launched by Burlington Coat Factory.
In addition, hearing-impaired concert goers attending the Choristers’ Friday, Dec. 11 performance will have the benefit of American Sign Language interpretation done by students in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Interpreter Training Program.
The 70-voice chorus, under the direction of Dr. James B. Kinchen, Jr., will present its Christmas concerts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 and Saturday, Dec. 12, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 800 Glenview Ave. (84th Street) in Wauwatosa.
Burlington Coat Factory has joined with One Warm Coat and “Good Morning America” in an effort to gather gently warm coats that will be distributed to those in need in the Milwaukee area. Coats should be taken to any Burlington Coat Factory store. Donors will receive a 10% coupon off the total purchase of $90 or more and a tax receipt for each coat donated. The coat collection project will continue through Friday, Jan. 15.
UWM has provided signers for several Milwaukee Choristers concerts.
