With the Milwaukee Bucks, Larry Sanders is known for his skills in the paint. Off-the-court, Sanders is known for his skills with paint as a deckboard artist and supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee’s art program.
On March 8, 2012 Sanders was among several local artists who met with the children and teens who took part in Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) Midwest Region Fine Art Exhibit.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee hosted the exhibit at its Mardak Administration & Training Center located at 1558 N. 6th St., from 5p.m to 8 p.m. The event was free and open to the public.
Recently, nationally recognized artists David Lenz, Ammar Nsoroma and Della Wells judged pieces from 40 Boys & Girls Clubs representing 12 states.
The artwork was judged by age group and in one of ten categories. Of the 100 pieces that were on display March 8, 37 of them will advance to BGCA’s National Fine Arts Exhibit. Lenz, Nsoroma and Wells were at the exhibit to meet local Club members along with Sanders.
BGCA’s National Fine Arts Exhibit is a year-round program encouraging artistic expression among Club members ages 6-18 through drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media and sculpture while providing opportunities for members to create artwork for display in a local exhibit.
Selected work will be shown at BGCA events including its 2012 National Conference in San Diego, Calif.
