Milwaukee – Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is proud to announce the endorsement of Fair Wisconsin.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Fair Wisconsin,” said Mayor Tom Barrett. “I am working hard to build more equal and inclusive community for all LGBT residents in Milwaukee. The diversity of Milwaukee, including the LGBT community, is one of the many reasons I love this city.”
Tom works hard everyday to make Milwaukee a better place to live, work and raise a family. All too often that includes fighting back against those who repeatedly turn their backs on Milwaukee and pit people against each other instead of working to bring people together.
“Mayor Barrett has been a champion for LGBT equality throughout his career in public service,” said Megin McDonell, Executive Director of Fair Wisconsin. “From his opposition to the federal ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ policy and the 2006 constitutional marriage amendment, to his participation in the national ‘Mayors for the Freedom to Marry’ campaign, Mayor Barrett’s record of supporting the LGBT community is clear. Most recently, his pledge to work with the county to end chronic homelessness in three years is another example of doing the hard work to address a serious problem that disproportionately affects the LGBT community.”
Mayor Tom Barrett loves city and goes to work every day to fight hard to make a difference and build a stronger future for Milwaukee.
