Susan Happ Wins Democratic Attorney General Primary

August 16, 2014

Happ wins primary with over 50% of the statewide vote and strong showing in counties across the state

Jefferson — On the night of August 12th Susan Happ, Jefferson County District Attorney declared victory in the Democratic Attorney General primary election.

Early returns showed large margins of victory in counties across the state and over 50% of the statewide vote.

“Tonight’s results are proof positive that Wisconsin voters are ready for a different kind of Attorney General.

I’m proud that my message of protecting our families, tackling our heroin epidemic head on, and putting sex offenders and domestic abusers behind bars where they belong has resonated with voters across Wisconsin.”

Happ goes into the general election with the momentum in the race. Happ has a proven record of earning votes from Democrats, Republicans and Independents in her campaigns for District Attorney, becoming the first Democrat to win the office in Jefferson County in 70 years.

“As Attorney General, I will never abuse our state’s laws for partisan political gains.

I will be an Attorney General who will protect the rights of Wisconsin families and not take them away,” said Happ.

“I’m a fighter, and have been my whole life and I look forward to fighting to protect our rights and citizens.”

Susan Happ is the District Attorney for Jefferson County and is a member of the Reducing Recidivism Coalition, Domestic Homicide Prevention Review Team, a founding member of the Jefferson County Heroin Task Force, and a member of the Jefferson County Coordinated Community Response Team and the Jefferson County Sexual Assault Review Team.
