On Thursday, March 13 at 5:30pm the “Sustainable Communities” forum will take place in an effort to familiarize the community and the 15th district with candidates seeking to take over leadership there.

The post was recently vacated by Common Council President Willie Hines.

His leadership and commitment to the Milwaukee community will now be taken into his new position as Associate Director of the city’s Housing Authority.

As Common Council President, Hines brought consistent, smart, and thoughtful leadership to the post.

The next leader of the 15th Aldermanic District must also bring those qualities in addition to new ideas set to move the district forward.

The “Sustainable Communities” forum, hosted by a number of local organizations and will feature local leaders as well as participation from local high school students, will be an important event for helping that community and Milwaukee consider how best to hold those seeking elected positions accountable from the beginning.

Those in attendance must be prepared to ask tough questions that challenge future leaders to think outside the box, be thoughtful, formidable, and smart.

The economic situation of that district necessitates new ideas that focus on financial sustainability and includes openness to providing children of that district with quality schools to prepare for the jobs that must be created there.

Overall, new leadership of the 15th Aldermanic district must be willing and able to work hard, work smart, and balance both the divisiveness of city politics and the opportunities to make meaningful change.

Information for the “Sustainable Communities” forum is below. What: “Sustainable Communities” 15th Aldermanic District Candidate’s Forum Where: Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee, 3400 W. North Avenue When: Thursday, March 13, 5:30pm to 7:30pm
