The Running Rebels Community Organization recently hosted their 33 rd Annual Scholarship Banquet on November 1, 2013 at the Italian Conference Center in beautiful downtown Milwaukee.
More than 400 people attended the event.
This year’s banquet focused on recognizing the accomplishments of both current youth who have been involved in Running Rebels programs and those past youth participants and staff in our 33 year history.
The agency was proud to award $11,000 in scholarships to deserving college students from the Milwaukee area.
The scholarship recipients were: Nicholas Troug $2000 (Millkin University), Nickolas Stokes $1000 (Morehouse College), Sheldon Fountain $500 (Miles College), DeMarcus Harris $1000 (Morehouse College), Ameera Eckles- Sabree $1000 (Marquette University), Kelly Nation $500 (Milwaukee Area Technical College), Natasha Malone $1000, Ebony Trammel $1000 (Wiley College), Kejuan Carter $500 (Milwaukee Area Technical College), Julian Addison $1000 (Valparaiso University), September Winzer $500 (Clark Atlanta University), Charese Hampton $500 (Rust College), and Zoraida Rivera $500 (Milwaukee Area Technical College).

The Running Rebels thanked their supporters for their donations of raffle and door prizes.
The winners of the raffle prizes were: First Prize, $500 prepaid Visa card, Scott Wollner; Second Prize, Fresh Coast Basketball Classic (FCBC) VIP package, Tanya Wollner; Third Prize, $50 Gift Card, Earlee Dove, and Fourth Prize, Surprise Gift, Cindy Wollner.
The evening was highlighted by an interactive drumming and dance performance by Express Yourself Milwaukee, a local non-profit that specializes in artistic expression and Victor Barnett Jr. performed an inspirational rap entitled, “Can’t Take No More”.
The guests in attendance enjoyed an abundance of delicious food, and a heartfelt message which was rendered by Victor Barnett, Executive Director of the Running Rebels, who encouraged all community partners to join together in an effort to make Milwaukee a safer place.
The Running Rebels Community Organization looks forward to another year serving the community and hopes that others will follow in their mission.
