Quarles & Brady Chairman receives 2013 “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award

September 20, 2013

John W. Daniels Jr.

The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that its chairman, John W. Daniels Jr., received the 2013 “Entrepreneur of the Year Award” from the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA). The award was presented at the 35th Annual Conference & Exposition on Wednesday, September 11 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.

The conference attracts more than 8,000 participants and 450 corporate executives.

The “Entrepreneur of the Year” award honors business leaders who own and lead businesses that service and supports the enrichment of the African- American community on a local, regional or national level; demonstrate visionary leadership within their organization or the broader community; hold a high standard of personal and organizational ethics; demonstrate creativity and innovation by successfully identifying and addressing core business issues; and create innovative solutions in their field.

Past award recipients include Earvin “Magic” Johnson, president, of Magic Johnson Enterprises; Daymond John, president and CEO of FUBU, also known for his appearance on the ABC reality television series Shark Tank; and, Earl Graves, Sr. CEO of Earl G. Graves Ltd., and publisher of Black Enterprise magazine.

“I am honored to be recognized by the National Black MBA Association,” said Daniels, a Harvard Law graduate and trusted business adviser to large corporate entities. “It is truly satisfying to be counted among such brilliant and accomplished people, who have set such high standards within the business community.”
