Students trying to complete their GED tests before a December deadline are being offered a testing site by the Social Development Commission (SDC).
SDC provides state-certified testing at its 4041 N. Richards Street building. The program offers the GED tests in both English and Spanish for students seeking to earn their diploma.
Adult students need to pass five tests in order to gain the GED diploma.
The timing for adults who are partway through the testing process is critical.
They need to complete all five tests successfully before December 13.
At that time, a new testing system will go into effect statewide.
If students have passed only some but not all five of the tests by that date, their tests results will be nullified and they will be forced to start the process all over again with a new series of tests.
The new tests will begin on January 2nd. They will be completely computer based, are expected to be more challenging and are believed to cost more for the student.
