Indonesian Consul General visits City Hall

Indonesian Consul General Andriana Supandy visited City Hall this week to promote good relations and cooperative opportunities with Milwaukee , according to Alderman Joe Davis, Sr., chair of the Common Council’s Community and Economic Development Committee. Mr. Supandy’s delegation was welcomed during a reception on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in the third floor Council Chamber anteroom at City Hall, 200 E. Wells St.

Common Council President Willie L. Hines, Jr. took part in welcoming Mr. Supandy during the reception Alderman Davis, chair of the City of Milwaukee ’s Sister Cities Committee and long active in promoting international relations and trade opportunities to benefit the city, said the Council and the Mayor’s Office have been working collaboratively to explore possible foreign trade and cooperative relationships, and added he is looking forward to meeting and talking with the Consul General.

“Last year, Chicago and Indonesia total trade amounted to $1.1 billion, and the United States is the fourth largest trade partner with Indonesia ,” Alderman Davis said. “As we look at possible opportunities to nurture trade and make connections that could create jobs and positive economic activity here in Milwaukee , I believe it behooves us to engage in regular dialogue with potential partners such as Indonesia .”

Mr. Supandy has served as Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia since November 2012, and has represented the Republic of Indonesia in Beijing , Brussels and the United Nations.

His experience includes building Indonesian relations with European communities and during his service at the United Nations.
