Marquette University hosts 4th annual PR + Social Media Summit

September 28, 2012

The PR + Social Media Summit returns to Marquette University with keynote presentations from Olympian Nick Symmonds, Prudential Financial Director of Social Media Augie Ray and General Motors Social Media & Digital Communications Director Mary Henige. The event takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave., and the Weasler Auditorium, 1506 W. Wisconsin Ave.

The one-day conference focuses on the convergence of strategic communications and social media designed for senior executives, marketing and PR professionals, brand managers, students and leaders. This year’s speakers and panelists include Molly McKenna Jandrain, director of public relations for McDonald’s; Sharif Durhams, social media editor for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel; Tim Washer, corporate comedian senior marketing manager at Cisco Systems; and many more.

“This summit offers an opportunity to allow our students and the Marquette community access to leaders in the communication and social media industry,” said Lori Bergen, Dean of the Diederich College of Communication. “We are thrilled to host this event with Hanson Dodge Creative and continue the discussion regarding the latest trends and best practices in public relations and social media.”

Conference fees are $129 for professionals and $25 for students, which include lunch and free parking. Student discount codes can be obtained by emailing timothy.cigelske@marqeutte.edu. The event is presented by the Marquette University Diederich College of Communication and Hanson Dodge Creative. Event proceeds will provide scholarship aid to students in the Diederich College of Communication.
