5K Run/Walk raises funds to support the 1 in 5 Americans living with Arthritis
The Arthritis Foundation Upper Midwest Region will hold its annual Run/Walk to Milwaukee Irish Fest on Saturday, August 18. This 5K run/walk raises funds and awareness to fight arthritis, the nation’s leading cause of disability. Runners and walkers will start at the Milwaukee Irish Fest Grounds and loop through Veterans Park along Milwaukee’s beautiful lakefront.
All participants receive will free t-shirt, goodie bag and admission for the day into Milwaukee Irish Fest, the world’s largest Irish festival! Also, new this year, participants 21+ will receive a FREE limited release Hooligan English Pale Ale, compliments of Sprecher Brewing Company. Pre and post-race entertainment will be provided by the Pubbys— a local interactive Irish rock band.
Participants can register online at www.runtoirishfest.kintera.org or in person the morning of the event. Standard registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children under 12 ($30 and $15 after July 23). Team registration ends on Monday, July 23. Teams must have at least 10 participants registered by the deadline to be considered a team.
Day-of registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the North Gate of Milwaukee Irish Fest Grounds, 200 North Harbor Drive. Opening ceremonies will take place at 10 a.m. followed by the run/walk at 10:30 a.m. Team and individual awards will be distributed at the awards ceremony starting at 11:30 a.m. Those not interested in running or walking are urged to volunteer on the day of the event.
