The Milwaukee Urban League in conjunction with Handsome Barber Shop will hold a Black History Month Celebration on Saturday, February 18, 2012. The celebration will be held from Noon – 3:00pm at the Barber Shop, 2701 N. Teutonia Ave. (Teutonia & Center Streets).
Free books “Great Black Inventors” will be given away while supplies last. There will also be door prizes, community resource information and boys age 11 and under will receive haircuts for $3; boys age 12 – 17 will receive haircuts for $5 and girls age 12 and under will have their fingernails painted.
Ralph Hollmon, president & CEO Milwaukee Urban League said “we want our Black History Month Celebration to not only focus on the contributions of Black Americans, we want it to focus on the importance of reading as well”. Haralson Moore, Co-owner Handsome Barber Shop, also said “this celebration is a great way to help youth understand our rich history and help our community during these tough economic times”.
