Wisconsin African American Women’s Center to host the last day of Kwanzaa on Sunday, Jan. 1 2012

The Wisconsin African American Women’s Center invites the entire community to celebrate the last day of Kwanzaa on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 at the WAAC from 12 noon to 5:00 pm, located at 3020 W. Vliet Street. The event will consists of a candle lighting ceremony, poetry, singing, dancing, drumming, food, vendors and more.

It will be a family affair, and for the memory table people are asked at their own option to bring a brief paragraph about a person you have chosen to emulate and speak of during the year. You can bring a poem, play music, or an item that symbolizes primary teachings of that person. All items will be returned. The seventh day principle of Kwanzaa is Imani, english translation, Faith.
