Public Hearing on proposed medicaid cuts

November 25, 2011

Wisconsin’s low-income citizens are in deep financial stress. Under the current budget, Gov. Scott Walker plans to cut $554 million to Wisconsin’s BadgerCare and Medicaid programs over the next two years. That’s $554 million from health services offered to low-income families, children, adults, seniors and individuals with disabilities. $554 million from detrimental programs designed to help citizens with no other option. To say this budget slash is outrageous is an understatement. It is more than appalling; it is heartless.

That’s why Sen. Lena Taylor will join democratic colleagues in organizing a series of public events. On Thursday, Dec. 1, I, along with State Rep. Sandy Pasch (District- 22) will host a public hearing in regards to Walker’s budget cuts to BadgerCare. The hearing will be held at Washington Park Senior Center from 6:30 pm to 9 pm.

Please join us in a rich discussion about these harmful funding slashes and what they mean for Wisconsin as a whole.
