Foster parents are critically needed in Milwaukee County, where at any given time about 2,000 children are in out-of-home care. So, St. Aemilian – Lakeside, a 161-year old social services agency at 89th and Capitol Drive , will hold an open house on Thursday, Dec. 1, from 4-8 p.m. to explain requirements and the many services provided to foster parents.
Anyone considering helping children in need – even if temporarily, as a “respite provider” –will be able to meet some of our dedicated foster parents and learn how their lives are enriched by providing nurturing and love to some of the most vulnerable kids in society.
Foster parents can be single, married or partnered individuals, be employed outside the home and have children of their own in the home.
Refreshments and activities for children will be provided at this ‘Winter Wonderland.’ The event is free; guests should enter through Capitol West Academy, 3939 S. 88th St.
