Success, despite economy, nets national award nomination for Milwaukee marketing agency

October 15, 2011

Red Brown Kle’ selected as finalist for NMSDC Supplier of the Year award

Red Brown Kle’ (RBK), a minority-owned, Milwaukeebased marketing agency, has been selected as a finalist for the National Minority Supplier of the Year award by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). The NMSDC Supplier of the Year award recognizes exemplary achievements in minority supplier development based on company growth, job creation, community involvement, quality of work, business innovations and professional references – criteria made even more challenging by the economic downturn.

RBK has already received the 2011 Regional Minority Business of the Year award from the Wisconsin, Iowa and Central Illinois Minority Supplier Development Council. The National award winners will be announced at the NMSDC Conference and Business Opportunity Fair on November 2nd in Atlanta.

“To be considered for this award is a big deal for Red Brown Kle’,” said Carl Brown, President of RBK. “This is a prestigious award and one that is highly respected not only in the diverse supplier community, but across Corporate America. Though we don’t often chase the spotlight for ourselves – it’s our job to do that for our clients – it’s a wonderful piece of recognition for years of hard work.”

In addition to being at the helm of RBK, which projects a 30% revenue increase and 25% employee growth in 2011, Brown is an advocate for diverse businesses locally and throughout Wisconsin. As a former chairman of The Business Council, Brown aided in developing a supplier diversity module which helped create business-building opportunities for minority-owned businesses in Milwaukee. As a current Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) board member, Brown continues to champion the cause.

“RBK’s success is also a win for our clients and a win for diverse suppliers,” Brown said. “The economy has been a real test for everyone. I think to perform so strongly sends a signal: when you stay true to your core values, you can thrive despite some formidable odds.”

Red Brown Kle’ Marketing Communications is a full-service advertising and marketing communications firm working with national, regional and local clients. RBK provides strategic marketing that includes branding, research, creative, media analysis, planning and buying.

The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) provides a direct link between corporate America and minority-owned businesses. Chartered in 1972, NMSDC is one of the country’s leading business membership organizations.
