Hoyt Pool is coming back to life

May 19, 2011

Milwaukee County Supervisors Jim “Luigi” Schmitt and Lynne De Bruin are excited to report that the new Hoyt Pool being built in Wauwatosa is nearing completion. In 2007, the TOSA foundation announced a $4 million challenge grant, and the Friends of Hoyt Park & Pool have since completed a $4 million capital campaign to match the generous donation.

“Hoyt had great attendance before it was closed in 2003, and I’m excited to see it coming back to life,” said Supervisor Jim “Luigi” Schmitt, who represents the Hoyt Park area.

The County Board’s Parks, Energy & Environment Committee was updated on the project earlier this week. The new pool facility includes heated water, competitive lap lanes, water slides, zerodepth entry, a sand play area and other aquatic center features. The existing bathhouse was also renovated for use as a possible coffee shop or casual restaurant. The new pool is expected to be open by Memorial Day weekend.
